How can I keep my vulva and vagina healthy?

Go for whole body health

Go for whole body health. Eat right, control your weight and exercise. This is not only good for your whole body but also for your sexual organs.

Protect yourself

Protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases like herpes, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV by using condoms.

Hygiene

Just use water for your vulva. Wash the vulva with cool to lukewarm water only, ideally just once a day by using your hand or a soft cloth. Do not scrub! Do not use bubble bath, feminine hygiene products, powder, cleansing wipes, or any perfumed creams or soaps.

Do not wash your vagina

The vagina is a self-cleaning organ. Using chemicals, soap or vaginal douching can disrupt its normal process.

Underwear

Wear all-cotton underwear or wear microfiber underwear with a cotton crotch. Underwear should never bind. Make sure you are wearing the right size.

Cotton menstrual pads

Use 100% cotton menstrual pads and tampons free of perfumes.

Avoid panty liners

Avoid the use of daily panty liners. Change underwear as often as necessary to control wetness.
